University of Rawalpindi Joins Palestine–Pakistan Rectors’ Forum on Rebuilding Higher Education in Gaza (October 16, 2025)
Rector Dr. Muhammad Abubakar represented University of Rawalpindi at the Palestine–Pakistan Rectors’ Forum, themed “Higher Education and Scientific Research in Gaza: The Way Forward,” held on Thursday, 16 October 2025, at the OIC-COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad.
The forum, inaugurated by Federal Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, brought together vice chancellors and rectors from leading universities across Pakistan and Palestine to identify pathways for academic collaboration and the revitalization of Gaza’s higher education institutions.
During his address, Dr. Abubakar reaffirmed UOR’s solidarity with Gaza’s academic community and announced several initiatives, including:
- Full scholarships for Palestinian students,
- Faculty and student exchange programs
- Online credit courses and micro-credentials to maintain access to learning.
The University of Rawalpindi will work closely with COMSTECH and partner institutions to translate these commitments into sustainable academic and research opportunities for Palestinian youth.
