UOR Celebrates Earth Day 2026 with Sustainability-Focused Activities
University of Rawalpindi (UOR) celebrated Earth Day 2026 on 27 April 2026, organized by the Community Impact Society (CIS) under the supervision of Dr. Saniya Moazzam. The event aimed to raise environmental awareness and encourage students to actively contribute toward protecting the planet through sustainable practices.
The celebration featured a range of engaging activities, including a plantation drive, where students planted saplings across the campus to promote ecological balance and improve environmental conditions. A nature awareness segment encouraged discussions on protecting natural resources and reducing environmental harm, while a poster competition provided students with a creative platform to express ideas on climate change, pollution, and sustainability.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across departments, reflecting a strong commitment to environmental responsibility. Winners of the poster competition were also recognized, including Syeda Kissa-e-Zahra (1st position), Abdul Samad (2nd position), and Laiba Khan (3rd position). The initiative highlighted UOR’s dedication to sustainability, student engagement, and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the academic community.
